An API key is required for free knockout search and for other endpoints.
How keys will be issued
The issuance process is TBD at launch. This site does not publish a dashboard URL, signup form, or key-generation API. Until Q1 2027, keys are not available.

Agent best practices (for when keys exist)
- Store secrets outside source control and prompt logs.
- Rotate keys if they leak.
- Identify your client with a descriptive user-agent so support can tell agents apart.
Do not send bots into USPTO filing systems, and do not treat a knockout API key as a USPTO ODP key. See USPTO ODP API key.
